Napoli vs Manchester City
UEFA Champions League
Date: 1st November 2017
Kick off at 20:45 CET
Venue: Stadio San Paolo.
Napoli’s Champions League destiny might well depend on the success in this particular fixture.
The potential defeat, combined with Shakhtar’s expected victory over the rock-bottomed Feyenoord, would push the Ukrainians on a six-point gap ahead of the final two matches of the campaign.
Partenopei have been quite impressive throughout the season, though, with the loss to Shakhtar away from home as the lone failure so far.
Maurizio Sarri’s men hold the top spot in Serie A where they have made it ten wins and a draw in 11 matches after Saturday’s home win over Sassuolo.
Dries Mertens bagged ten goals in the league and added two more in Champions League and he will clearly be the main threat to City’s goal on Wednesday.
The Citizens are flying high in both Premier League and Champions League. Pep Guardiola’s side will come into this on the back of 13 consecutive victories in all competitions (we included the penalty shootout win over Wolves in League Cup here).
Manchester City are thus five points clear at the top of the Premier League table and they could book the knockout stage in Champions League with the potential victory at San Paolo.
Napoli vs Manchester City: Head to head
This is going to be the fourth head to head encounter between the two sides who were drawn to the same Champions League group back in the 2011/12 season as well.
Each of three previous head to head meetings between the two teams saw the BTTS option “come in”, including the 2-1 win for City two weeks ago at Etihad.
Napoli vs Manchester City: Prediction
Both teams are super strong up front and we just can’t see any of them keeping their net untouched on Wednesday.
Napoli vs Manchester City: Bets
